Vermiwash is a liquid containing hormones, nutrients, and enzymes secreted by earthworms which have anti-disease properties. In other words, it is a brown-colored liquid bio-fertilizer in which auxin and cytokinin hormones are present and various enzymes like protease, amylase, urease, and phosphatase are also found. Microbiological studies have revealed that nitrogen-fixing bacteria like Azotobacter species, Agrobacterium species, and phosphorus-solubilizing bacteria are found in vermiwash.
